Before the Interview
In the travel industry, which has been recovering rapidly since the pandemic, whether you can quickly offer customers better travel productsis a core competitive advantage. Previously, travel products were introduced through a process in which staff manually translated and reviewed overseas travel products, but now it has become possible to quickly secure the travel products customers want by leveraging AI technology.
Today, we'd like to introduce the case of 'MyRealTrip,' a travel platform that achieved outstanding results by adopting Dalpha's manual-work automation AI.
We met with Yoon Deok-eun, Head of Tours & Activities at MyRealTrip Inc., who led the adoption of Dalpha's AI service, and heard the detailed story behind the rollout and its results.
Interview with MyRealTrip
Hello, Deok-eun. First, could you give us a brief introduction to MyRealTrip?
Yes, hello. I'm Yoon Deok-eun, who served as Head of Tours & Activities at MyRealTrip. MyRealTrip is a company founded in 2012 and it is the only one that specializes in tours & activities while growing into Korea's largest travel platform. We currently hold the largest number of reviews in Koreaand are focused on improving our customers' experiences.
What prompted MyRealTrip to feel the need for manual-work automation AI?
Since we're a company that provides overseas and domestic travel products to travelers in Korea, what we value most is whether we have every travel product people are looking for. So we collaborate with a variety of domestic and overseas partners to prepare a wide range of products. However, since most product information services don't support Korean, for product information written in English or local languages, we need translation tailored to travel rather than a literal word-for-word translation. We tried using Google Translate and the like, but ultimately the structure required a separate reviewer to unify terminology and rearrange it to match the product specifications, which we felt was inefficient—so we began considering adopting AI.
Could you tell us what you focused on most when planning and rolling out the manual-work automation AI?
To maintain high quality of product information, MyRealTrip had people go through the entire review process. Because this process—from selecting product information, to Korean translation, to smoothly polishing it to fit the format—was all done manually, the thing we focused on most when planning the manual-work automation AI was minimizing the process in which people spend time on the work. Thanks to Dalpha's AI, we now only need a simple review process, which has greatly reduced our resources.
Since adopting the manual-work automation AI, how have you been measuring business results? Have there been positive changes?
Time efficiency has more than doubled. Before adoption, combining the translation and standardization work, one person can now do more than twice as much in the same amount of time. By cutting the time we used to spend on translation and standardization, we've been able to provide customers with higher-quality products more quickly. As we've been able to focus on the essence of our work, employees are also satisfied using it, and we expect the entire department's performance to increase as well.
What were you most satisfied with during the AI project with Dalpha?
I felt that the initial AI setup and the speed of incorporating feedback were truly fast. I was amazed that we could see initial results in just two weeks, and even more amazed when, after we gave feedback, they immediately reflected it within a day. The initial results were hard to put into service right away, but they incorporated our feedback so quickly and accurately that a trial product became possible before long, which gave me the impression of a trustworthy company.
Also, being able to validate quickly by actually applying it to our work for about a weekleft a strong impression. Honestly, from an employee's perspective, adopting a new service can feel burdensome. But the fact that we could measure results by actually using it and adopt it based on that evidence—and that everything from building a new service to deciding on adoption could happen in such a short time—was very positive.
Finally, what kind of company or team would you recommend Dalpha's AI to?
I'd recommend Dalpha's AI to teams that don't have AI developers or can't dedicate much development resource, and to teams that need fast decision-making and a low-burden AI rollout.
Every company struggles with allocating resources and priorities. For those areas that are so important yet can't be tended to, I think Dalpha's AI can deliver a satisfying experience and value. There's really a lot of repetitive work that people do, and I think it will be a great opportunity to make various parts more efficient.
It would be great to think it through together with Dalpha, which has many kinds of AI, starting from the ideation stage.
