My recent AI consulting experience with Company A illustrates how we propose 'must-have' AI solutions.

The situation
Company A was interested in adopting AI company-wide, but had no idea at all what kind of AI to use. So as their AI consultant, I started by taking the company's workflow apart piece by piece to analyze where the most inefficiency began.

Workflow analysis

Company A's work process consisted of the following stages: 'product design → material procurement → manufacturing and assembly → quality control and inspection → packaging and logistics → sales.'

In the initial analysis, I found that the most manual work was happening in the manufacturing and assembly and the quality control and inspection stages. However, I judged these to be areas that essentially require staff with specialized manufacturing knowledge and hardware. So rather than having AI replace that work, I began digging back into the manual tasks that the existing specialists were doing one by one outside of that work.

Business bottleneck analysis

The analysis showed that an enormous amount of time and money was being spent on communication with raw-material suppliers during material procurement. In particular, the process of handling offline purchase orders—where 15 employees entered data manually—acted as a major bottleneckthat was holding things up.

Data utilization analysis

To solve this problem, Dalpha developed an AI solution that, when a purchase order is scanned and uploaded to an internal program, automatically extracts the needed information and loads it into the system.

The result

We achieved the remarkable result of reducing manual work by a full 75%.

Key Learning
Had we, in this situation, tried to blindly provide a particular solution without first understanding the problems the company was facing, we likely would have ended up driving an ineffective adoption without ever properly grasping the company's core issues.

The consulting case we provided for F&B commerce company B clearly shows the importance of this customization.

The situation
The area Company B had recently been focusing on most was 'customer retention,' and to maintain and manage that retention, most of their internal staff were focused on 'improving the customer's search experience.' That's because they judged the accuracy of search results to be the key factor in preventing customer churn.

Workflow analysis

To do this, their internal MDs were manually setting tag values for each product, and what stood out was that they had set up the tags so that searching for a specific product would also surface that product's raw ingredients and complementary items.

For example, when a customer searched for 'shabu-shabu,' raw ingredients like cabbage, beef, and mushrooms, as well as complementary items like kalguksu noodles and dipping sauces that go well with it, would also appear in the search results. Beyond simply preventing churn caused by failed searches, this was a strategy to raise the average order value by driving the purchase of other products.

Customization needs analysis

I grasped this special need unique to Company B and approached, from a planning standpoint, how Dalpha's existing AI search engine could be enhanced so that searches for raw ingredients and complementary items would also be reflected in the results.

Data utilization analysis

After ample discussion with our internal AI engineers, we reached the conclusion that the algorithm could certainly be developed if the content present on product detail pages were reflected as data in the search results—and we went ahead with the actual project.

The result

We achieved the business outcome of catching two birds with one stone: the customer churn rate dropped by 50% and overall revenue rose by 20%.

Key Learning
Had we introduced a generic AI search engine without considering Company B's particular needs, we never would have achieved these results.
